Fourteen years after welcoming the world, London’s Olympic Park has reached another landmark moment.

The Victoria & Albert Museum has opened its doors, a bold new outpost of one of the world’s great museums, marking a new chapter in one of the most ambitious post-Games transformations any host city has undertaken. Located at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, V&A East forms part of East Bank, a £1.1 billion cultural and education district bringing together world-class institutions on formerly industrial land. Since 2012, the Park has helped generate over 38,000 jobs, with more than 51,000 forecast by the mid-2030s. Local residents and young people have shaped the museum through consultation, co-design and outreach, ensuring the spaces and programmes genuinely serve the community. For fellow host cities, V&A East is a powerful reminder: the most enduring Games legacies are built through sustained investment, sporting and cultural ambition and deep community partnership.
