Elevate, a youth leadership programme rooted in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, has delivered two initiatives to build on the legacy of the 2012 Games, and empower young East Londoners to take the lead on community change, through research, leadership, and grassroots funding.
The London 2012 Legacy Partnership Project was funded by Spirit of 2012 – the London 2012 legacy organisation – and included a peer-led research project exploring perceptions of London 2012 Olympic legacy which revealed that 55% of 16–24-year-olds believe the Games had benefited their community. It also comprised of the Elevate Fund, which awarded £80,000 grants to young people and youth organisations from the London 2012 host boroughs to bring the legacy to the forefront.
